Extension
Privacy policy
Effective June 21, 2026
Overview
The Source Commons browser extension helps you save webpages and open-data resources to lists. It processes page information only when you explicitly open the extension, select “Add to SCF”, or use its context-menu action. It does not continuously monitor your browsing or build a history of the pages you visit.
Information processed
- Selected page content: the URL, title, description, links and available structured or open-data metadata from the page you choose to save.
- Account information: your account identifier, public name and email address when you sign in.
- Authentication information: session tokens are stored locally by Chrome so the extension can remain connected. The extension never receives or stores your password.
- Your actions: the lists you create and the resources you choose to add, update or remove.
How information is used
This information is used only to authenticate you, preview the selected resource, save it to the list you choose, and provide the extension’s core features. It is not used for advertising, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to saving and organizing resources.
Storage and service providers
The extension communicates securely over HTTPS with scframework.org. Account and list data are stored using Supabase, our authentication and database provider, and the website is hosted through Cloudflare. These providers process data only to operate and secure the service. The extension does not contain advertising or analytics code.
Sharing and sale of data
We do not sell personal information. We do not transfer extension data to third parties except the service providers required to operate the feature, legal authorities when required by law, or another party with your explicit consent.
Retention and your choices
Saved resources remain available until you remove them or delete the relevant list or account. Local session information remains until it expires, you disconnect, clear the extension’s data, or uninstall the extension. You can remove saved items from your lists at any time.
Security
Data is transmitted over HTTPS and access is limited through authenticated sessions. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the information handled by the extension.
Contact and policy changes
For privacy questions or deletion requests, contact the project through the extension support repository. We may update this policy when the extension changes. The effective date above will be updated whenever material changes are published.
